Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose a Sustainable Vacation?

We all have to do our part. By choosing Owl Creek Farm Resort over a generic hotel, you will you be more engaged with your natural surroundings and contribute to the conservation of the sacred resources these mountains have shared with us. We utilize renewable solar energy to power our lights, and natural spring water flows through to our sinks and showers.  Let's work together to minimize our carbon footprint.

What to Expect When Visiting a Eco-Friendly Farm

Bugs

Our business is based in nature. We share this land with all that lives here! Including bugs and insects. We are also committed to Organic gardening and farming practices, and rely on insects for the Farm's success.

There are no refunds if you are upset by bugs and insects.

Alternative Toilets

We utilize both compost and incinerator toilets on the Farm and at Outdoor Bookings.

Compost toilets
are for waste and urine only. Toilet paper is to be disposed of in the trash bin provided. On the Farm,  human and animal waste is converted into clean energy, such as gas for cooking!

Plant Based Products

The local water sources are very important to us. Please only use the biodegradable cleaning products provided. If you are found violating this policy, there will be a fee.

Contacts us if you require specific products due for medicinal or allergen reasons.

How do I find the farm, and where do I park? â€‹

After turning onto Owl Creek Rd from Hanging Dog Rd, you will enter our Farm Resort using the first driveway on your RIGHT. You will see GREEN ground poles and a horse riding road sign. The driveway descends to the gravel parking area, where there is room for approximately 4 cars. Please leave your car in the gravel lot. Do not cross the bridge with your car. You will see a red gate, a bridge crossing the creek, and the Farm Resort.

Note: The Farm Resort has two entrances, the second is unavailable to guests unless otherwise approved by Management. If you pass the evergreens along the road and find a grass driveway with a chain across, you have gone too far!

How comfortable will I be in a Canvas Tent?

Breathability

Canvas allows small moisture particles from breath, sweat, and cooking to escape directly through the tent fabric. Keeping you dry and comfortable in any environment.

Heat Efficiency

Can be safely used with wood burning tent stoves keeping you camping in comfort through all four seasons. Cotton is also a poor conductor which makes it a better insulator than plastic.

Waterproofing

The surface tension of a raindrop prevents the water from passing through the tight weave of quality canvas. The water droplet beads and runs off the steep slope of the canvas canopy – keeping you dry naturally. Heavy rains cause the cotton canvas fibers to swell, further tightening the weave in wet conditions

Ventilation

In addition to the natural breathability of cotton canvas, CanvasCamp tents are equipped with large no-see-um mesh covered vents and windows, and some with 360 degrees of mesh wall. Customizable ventilation allows you to fine tune your airflow to match the weather in seconds.
